The bindery at Community Printers defines who we are. When people ask us what kind of work we produce, we typically describe the finished product; paper back and hard cover books, saddle stapled magazines, folded brochures, diecut folded and glued boxes. The list goes on and on.

Community Printers has the widest array of finishing devices on the central coast. Virtually everything that we print needs one or more finishing operations. The finishing department at Community Printers is the largest department in our shop with over 20 different bindery machines allowing us to produce an amazing array of products. What is even more impressive is that we have an aggressive program of cross training bindery staff in the workings of every finishing device. It takes about 6 years to train bindery staff in how to operate every piece of finishing equipment that we have but the payoff is amazing when the pressure is on to get that rush job out the door and there are multiple people ready, willing and able to get the job done.

Our Equipment List in the bindery will give you an idea of the breadth of products that we can produce for you:

We also have an experienced staff dedicated to hand assembly. There are some things that are still better to do by hand...assembling unique kits with multiple items, folding and gluing pop-up books, building POP displays, if you need it assembled by hand, we have the team that is ready to quickly and efficiently do your build.

Additionally we have many partners with specialized finishing equipment to extend the scope of products that we can produce. We have worked with many of these vendors for over 20 years. We know their capabilities and have developed coordinated ways of working together.

To support our customer delivery requirements, we have two trucks that run between Monterey, Salinas, San Jose, Oakland and San Francisco...and of course Santa Cruz.
